Bluesman Papa T performed Friday evening at 3 Dudes BBQ!

Papa T performed this time with a band, (including Main Stage’s own Trevor Linn on bass). Papa T rolled out some great Chicago-style blues, and the atmosphere was simply amazing. The crowd at 3 Dudes BBQ grew substantially from the previous week (which was the opening night), word of mouth seems to be getting around. So come on out this weekend and help support music in Dayton, TN.

Norman Blake, Legendary musician in “old school” country and roots music, performed at the Rhea County courthouse for the “Scopes Trial festival”. Mr. Blake is well known in the roots music circles, and now in the mainstream, for his work on the soundtrack for the hit movie, “O Brother, Where Art Thou”.
Rhea County residents can thank their own local legend, Tom Morgan, for helping to make it possible for Mr. Blake to come here to perform. It was a great performance.
And of course, since it was just across the street for our humble little store, Brad made his way over, and managed to cheese it up for the camera with Mr. Blake.

3 Dudes BBQ is featuring LIVE music in downtown Dayton, TN.

Taylor and I.V. Smith, (the 3 dudes), have opened a long awaited music venue in Dayton, right on Market St. Friday night, July 18th, The BBQ opened featuring “Poppa T”, (some may remember him as “Earl T”), a seasoned bluesman from the Sequatche valley. The crowd was sparse at first, but grew to a respectable crowd by late evening. With some word-of-mouth, (or word-of-blog) advertising, I believe they will do well. Come on down this Friday, July 25th, Poppa T will perform again, this time with his band. It’s sure to be a great time, Don’t miss it!

‘Cactus’, as his friends and family have learned to call him, is a thoroughbred rocker! His more than 30 years of professional playing experience has taken him across the USA with some of the foremost names in Country and Outlaw roots rock. His most recent stint as Bassist for MTV “Jackass” Fame Roger Allan Wade has refueled his love of Songwriting. His original songs have been very well received by many in the music industry and we expect to hear big things from Cactus in the near future.
Cactus has been a loyal Main Stage Music customer since 2003 when the store opened and we have been proud to provide him with the tools needed to keep his musical “fire” alive. Be sure to check him out with one of the many bands he plays with around Rhea county Tennessee. He is currently playing Lead Guitar (G&L ASAT Bluesboy and VOX AC-30) with ‘The Faculty’, as well as Rhythm guitar (Vintage 1963 Supro Belmont and Valvetrain 205 Tallboy in distressed tweed) and front-man of ‘Fisher’.
We would like to thank Neal for his business over the years but also for his dedication to furthering the music scene here in Rhea County Tennessee. Dayton has not become a place that Live music lovers flock to yet, but with enough people like Cactus it soon will be.
Thanks!
